Zook gets vote of confidence
And lays (another) egg.
I was just looking at the Illini page on Yahoo Sports. This is too funny. At the top of the page it says:
Illinois Fighting Illini1-6 (0-5), 11th Big Ten
Guys, it's official. Ron Zook is the worst coach in the history of the game of football. He took a great Gator program and made it mediocre and he's taken a terrible Illinois program and made it even more terrible, if that were possible. If you look up "Fluke" in the dictionary, the 2007 season is mentioned there as an example.
Have fun folks. I know I am.

Did I ever say he didn't do it before? It's just that I never noticed how ridiculous it sounds to be 11th in the Big TEN.
you for sure are just cheering for ron zook to lose so you can write in your blog. granted he's an awful coach but to say that he took a terrible team to even more terrible depths is just bad logic. I think ron zook needs to resign because he is completely out of his league and a horrific coach, but to bask in his defeat is gloating of the worst kind. Then again, if he didn't keep losing what would you be writing about? Bring in EDDIE!
Students, alumni, and shit, probably the players from Illinois dislike Zook as much as you do, trust me, I go there.
He's an awful coach, somehow he's taken an offense with some of the most potential in Illinois's history and made them fucking fail. And when you think that the athletic department would wake up now that our team is 1-6 (0-5), Ron Gunther has the gall to announce this:
According to espn announcers, Gunther has said "Ron zook is not only the guy for this year, but for 2010 as well" ...
Give me a damned break...
Anon at 5:34,
Zook has given me plenty of potential material to write about this season but you'll notice that the content of this blog has been very light. I could easily pile on a lot more.
The source of my continued animus toward Zook after all these years is his arrogance. He continues to take swipes at UF and his successor. Why? Because he's a loser. He could have shut all of his critics (including me) up. All he had to do is deliver what he promised: teams that improve year over year leading to consistent winning. But he's not capable of it because his football IQ is frankly lower than that of the average fan.
I am an Illini alum, living in Fl. My daughter is a Gator alum. When Zook destroyed the Gator program, fireronzook.com became a favorite website, His home address was posted and people were talking about sending a moving van to his home, to pack him up & move him out. When he was finally fired, we all cheered. Shortly thereafter I was Zooked again. I knew that my beloved Illini were going to go downhill. At least my adopted favorite school got smart & hired Urban Myers. Until he is gone, the Illini will stay at the bottom.

Let's just compare the whole internet to a human body.
On that body, this blog is an infected zit on the underside of the nutsack.
A few friends and I have just launched www.givezookthehook.com and are trying to publicize a little bit. I've read some of your posts and it seems we share strong feelings against the Zooker. I'm happy for you guys at Florida were able to get rid of him (though it meant he came to us), now we at Illinois want to do the same! Check out the website and if you can give us a shoutout, that would be awesome. Thanks!
Just out of curiosity, Baghead, what swipes has he taken at UF recently?
In all honesty, the only thing he's said lately was in response to Urban Meyer bringing up Zook's tenure at Florida for no reason.
Now, why a coach with two national titles needs to continue to dump on the regime before him - seems unnecessarily defensive in my opinion.
Whatever. What you should really be talking about is the fact that our idiot athletic director refuses to fire him this season.
You are forgetting Ron Zook's protegee at New Mexico - Mike Locksley. He may rank as the worst coach in college football. Loosing to NMSU and UNLV takes a special talent. Add on a sexual harassment case and an assault and you have a special coach.
Knothead, Yes but it does command your attention doesn't it?
Not really. The blog is kind of like the two 300-pound lesbians that used to live in the apartment down the street from me in college. It wasn't something I really cared to see every day, but I still went by every now and then just in case something interesting was happening over there.
Whatever the case, thanks for your continued readership.
